After School Programs

Fall Foliage

Welcome to ILA's after school care program! The program runs from 3:20pm to 6:00pm Monday through Friday. During after school care, students have snack, do their homework, play outside, work on individual and collective activities, and they participate in a variety of structured after school activities.

Each month has a flat rate to sign up for the whole month with two different pickup options. You can sign up for pick up at or before 4:30pm for $247 or pick up at or before 6:00pm for $371. These figures may be subject to change based on the schedule of each month. For those who are not enrolled in after school care, if you stay after 3:20 pm you will be charged $14 an hour.

Below you will find a list of after school programs that you can sign up for on top of the general program. The difference between a club and a class is that classes you opt into and pay an extra fee, while clubs just charge the standard aftercare hourly rate. This means that if they are already signed up for aftercare, students can participate in clubs whenever they want. Classes and clubs are instructed by a variety of teachers and after school staff. Check it out!

Chess Club

Playing chess helps develop useful mental skills including logic, tactical thinking, planning ahead, and problem-solving. The game of chess is incredibly helpful in nurturing these qualities from a young age. Chess Club lets kids build these skills while also having fun and making friends. This club will also give students an opportunity to connect and play against opponents of their age and skill level from across the globe. Using a program called MatPat, our junior chess club will be able to play against students from France and other areas.

The Green Thumbs

Mathias, our first grade teacher, has a passion for gardening. He wants to get the kids involved in planting all sorts of things around the campus. This will include different herbs, fruits, vegetables, aesthetic plants, and even trees. Although some of the things won’t be planted until the spring, this section will be all about cultivating the land and the planter boxes and preparing them for beautification. While the children work in the gardens around the school they will learn important lessons about how plants work, along with learning about the surrounding wildlife. Come get your hands dirty in the green thumb club!

Guitar Class

Our very own Kindergarten teacher, Mr. Colin, will be our new after school guitar teacher! Colin has always had a passion for music. This eventually led him to teach himself how to play guitar. Colin has been playing guitar for 20 years and taught guitar in France before moving to the United States. This class will offer an exciting and fun way to learn the guitar. It will include references in both English and French in order to increase our students' musical vocabulary in both languages.

Parents will be responsible for renting or buying their own guitar, however Mr. Colin and myself will be available to help with any questions regarding sizes, strings, and brands. When you do purchase or rent a guitar it is highly recommended that it has nylon strings. Nylon strings are easier to manipulate by younger musicians

Study Hall

In after school care, we want to make sure that our students have the resources to be successful in school every single day. The last thing we would want is to have children come home for dinner from aftercare and tell their parents that they have homework. Our staff is ready and able to help any child with their homework. The program will also include other academic boosting activities and tutoring.

Archery Class

Safety is the Archery Club’s number one priority, thus students will first learn how to properly handle and shoot a bow and how to stay safe on an archery range. They will also learn the layout of a bow, and proper terminology. Archery is also a fun way to learn about the physics of energy and motion. The class supports competitive as well as recreational shooting.
